Course Name : Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering Department is equipped to meet the present day technological advances and to meet the industrial requirements matching with the global standards. The four year course in mechanical Engineering is designed to give the student the necessary training in access and use of most recent technologies. The department has state of the art laboratories through which practical knowledge necessary for the present day industrial applications is provided.Workshops with latest equipment, computer-aided engineering are provided to help students access latest developments in the field.

Programe Educational Objectives

  1. Fundamental Knowledge : Demonstrate fundamental knowledge in basic science and Mechanical Engineering, with critical and solution-oriented thinking for attaining professional excellence.
  2. Industry Integration :Facilitate with industrial exposure within and outside the curriculum to integrate theoretical concepts with the latest industry practices.

  1. Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3. Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4. Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  5. Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

Programe Specific Outcomes

  1. Design, Analyze and Evaluate Mechanical components through domain specific knowledge, experimentation and software tools.
  2. Identify, Analyze and demonstrate the attributes of modern machining processes, tools and materials for manufacturing of mechanical systems and components.
  3. Investigate thermal systems by modelling and analysis through modern simulation techniques and tools.
  4. Analyze the problems related to modern industries in the area of process planning, cost estimation and quality assurance.

Eligibility Details

Course Name : Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering

Basic eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) Examination from any recognised Board with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. Candidates should have studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at Class XII level and obtained a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics.

Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May may apply with their class X and XI marks.

Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:
Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.
Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels, grades not less than C

Lateral Entry:
Candidates who have successfully completed the 3 year diploma in Engineering are eligible to apply for lateral entry into engineering programmes.
