The primary objective of the department is to impart quality education, training and research at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in frontline areas of electronics and its derived Engineering and Technology. The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department has a rich tradition in research and teaching. The research interests of the faculty members of the department encompass the wide area of applied and fundamental aspects of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Collaboration in between the research groups of the department and with other departments is also a practice. The broad areas of research and academic activities in the department are:

state-of-the-art equipments and has class leading laboratory for hands on learning.

RF & Microwave Lab
 

The RF and Microwave is a Research Laboratory which caters researchers to explore the field of wireless communication with respect to conventional & planar antennas and RF systems including investigations on the effect of metamaterials and ambient RF energy harvestment. This Research Laboratory provides a complete platform for simulation and experimental validation of antennas & RF system designs upto 40 GHz. This lab is equipped with HFSS EM simulation software and the state-of-the-art kind of measuring instruments Vector Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, PCB Printing Machine, RF modules and an Anechoic Chamber measuring a size of 7m x 4m x 3m. The long term goal is to develop this laboratory as a center of excellence for microwaves.

E-Mobility R&D Facility
 

The facility is developed with the vision to provide the avenues with regards to improved charging infrastructure, smart Electric Drive systems, IoT technologies for EVs and Improved Power System Dynamics. R & D Facility is a joint venture of Safran Engineering Services, IEEE and CHRIST (Deemed to be University).

FESTO AUTOMATION TRAINING CENTRE
 

The centre is aimed to impart automation skill to students to students to develop skills which are required for many manufacturing and processing industries. Main focus of the centre is on skill development on industrial automation through pneumatics, hydraulics, electro pneumatics, electro hydraulics, programmable logic controllers, Fluid Sim (software) and codesys - IEC 61131-3 programming tools. Students have the opportunity to do their internship on industrial automation in republican institute for vocational education, Minsk, Belarus. after successfully completing the courses offered from the centre on industrial automation. The internship is about industry revolution 4.0 which is the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies.

Virtual Instrumentation Lab
 

Virtual Instrumentation Lab creates an environment for students to experiment and innovate with various software tools available at their dispense. Virtex 5, Spartan 6, Spartan 3 FPGA boards are available and Xilinx Vivado HLS can be used for design. CUFE hosts MATLAB licenses and has procured campus total headcount license so that it can be used across departments. This lab also caters to DSP applications with several TMS processor kits and DSP Development kit for experimentation and projects.
